does not mean you learn so much about the world you become sour about it
does not mean you do whatever you want
does not mean you can blame things on others
does not mean you have to be pessimistic about the world’s problems
does not mean you find less joy in things
does not mean you have more or less responsibility
does not mean you have to stay up till 2am to get things done
does not mean your life is easier or more difficult
does not mean you have to fix anything or everything
does not mean you know more about anything
does not mean you are superior to anyone or anything
It means you grew. And it was up.
It is what you make of it.
Case closed.
It’s true. They’re great.
Personally, I like having absolute best friends and then some close friends, but that’s because that’s what I’ve got. And I like what I’ve got. I like liking things.
And it totally doesn’t matter how many friends you have.
But who cares, because whatever makes you happy will make you happy. And that’s the only thing that matters.
If you have someone you can laugh with, talk to, and call whenever, then it really is a gift.
And honestly, it starts from only saying hi. Friends can come out of nowhere.
Friends are great. Even if it’s just someone who smiles when they see you, or waves in the hallway. It doesn’t have to be someone who raids your pantry when they come into your house for the umpteenth time, or someone who sends heartwarming texts when things didn’t go your way, or someone you can sit with and play Nintendo or just talk in a garage with for hours. But if they are, then really appreciate them.
Especially if they’re someone who’s remained consistent with you for longer than any others.
And if a friend doesn’t treat you right, then they’re not a friend. You have to enjoy spending time with them, and talking to them, and feel comfortable enough with them. (Well, I guess you don’t have to, but I know for sure that if you don’t enjoy things you won’t be happy, sooo.)
And it doesn’t even matter who they are, as long as you are happy. Hey, it can be your mom, or relative, or even a pet or inanimate object for heavens sake, who is anyone to judge?
I know precisely where I would be without my closest friends, and I know it is not a nice thing to think about. Looking back, I just realize the huge impact they’ve had on my life, they keep me down to earth, and they’ve helped me so much.
I don’t like relying my happiness on other people, but I know exactly who I’d choose.
And if you can find someone worth your time, then I know it will make your life so much fuller.
